Seminar for Pre-school Chinese Language Teachers 2018

Seminar for Pre-school Chinese Language Teachers 2018

To enhance their professional skills and grow their professional network, more than 800 pre-school Chinese Language (CL) teachers and educationists attended the Seminar for Pre-school Chinese Language Teachers on 4 August 2018. Held at Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College Central, the seminar was organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) and supported by the Early Childhood and Development Agency (ECDA). 6 local and overseas educationalists, together with 13 outstanding Pre-school teachers shared their expertise on this professional learning platform. Members of CPCLL’s Pre-school Chinese Language Teachers’ Learning Community, who were past recipients of the Outstanding Pre-school Mother Tongue Language Teacher Award, were also involved in facilitating the seminar. The prize presentation ceremony of the inaugural Pre-school Chinese Language Storytelling Aids Competition was held during the opening ceremony, where the entries of the finalists were featured at the seminar’s exhibition.

The theme for this year’s seminar was “Home-School Collaboration”, highlighting the importance of effective partnership between parents and schools in supporting children to learn Chinese. Family involvement plays a vital role in young children’s learning and development. Through different forms of activities such as nursery rhymes, art and craft, pictures books and language games, parents play an important part in co-creating an enjoyable learning environment for the children.
